NEW MOON IN ARDRA

Emotional and Nostalgic New Moon. Photos of an old hotel in Grand Rapids, Michigan where we stayed after The Machines of God show.

“Storms make trees take deeper roots.”

— Dolly Parton

Today’s New Moon falls in Tropical Cancer, Sidereal Gemini, and in the Ardra Nakshatra, one of the most emotionally flooding and dramatic! Ardra is ruled by Rudra, a fierce form of Lord Shiva, associated with storm, destruction, and inner disruption that clears the field. Its symbol is a teardrop symbolizing emotional release, reckoning, and purification. Ardra breaks down all the poisons, memories, and residual anger. It allows the grief that has been silenced to have its storm.

The Sun and Moon conjoin here in sidereal Gemini, closely aligned with Jupiter, amplifying all the emotions and inner turmoil. Across the axis, Mars and Ketu burn in Leo, in the ancestral nakshatra of Magha, forming the opposing edge of the Kala Sarpa Yoga—a rare configuration in which all visible planets fall between the lunar nodes, locking the collective psyche into a super karmic, pressured, serpentine grip. We are living through an energetic tightening, with shadow material rising fast and unfiltered, both collectively and internally.

The world is rife with images of war, rage, collapse, and uprising. But the psychic reality underneath is just as volatile. In Jungian terms, what we’re witnessing is the eruption of collective complexes—archetypal material that overwhelms the ego, activates fear, and pulls us into repetition cycles of trauma, power, and exile. Ardra corresponds to this kind of psychic possession: a storm that comes not to punish, but to force what’s hidden to the surface.
